1 · Package document set

Every submittal package includes these, in this order.

  • Cover sheet — project, submittal number, spec section(s), date, and the submitting company
  • Transmittal — item list keyed to the schedule, with the reviewer/GC and the type (partial or full)
  • Table of contents / section dividers so the reviewer can navigate
  • Product data — manufacturer cut sheets marked to the exact model, options, and finish being furnished (strike what doesn't apply)
  • Shop drawings for anything fabricated or custom, matched to the drawings and schedules
  • Samples or physical mock-ups where the specification requires visual approval
  • Certifications & test reports the spec calls up (listings, ratings, compliance letters)
  • O&M data and warranties where required at this stage
  • Substitution request forms for any product not on the approved-manufacturer list

2 · Drywall scope — by spec section

Pull a submittal for each section in your scope; confirm the spec's Part 1 list.

  • Gypsum board data sheets for each type and thickness, keyed to where each is used (Type X at rated walls, moisture-resistant at wet walls, ceiling-rated board at ceilings)
  • Metal framing: stud and track profiles, gauges (EQ vs. traditional mils), depths, and limiting-height tables for the specified deflection
  • Fasteners and adhesives by substrate
  • Joint treatment system: tape, compounds, and the specified finish levels by area (Level 4 vs. Level 5)
  • Acoustic items: insulation, sealant, resilient channel or sound isolation clips where STC assemblies are specified
  • Head-of-wall and deflection details, plus fire-stopping references at rated conditions
  • UL/GA tested-assembly listings for every fire-rated and STC-rated partition type on the drawings

3 · Before you submit — common rejection reasons to rule out

Reviewers flag these first. Verify each is not an issue before you send.

  • Rated partition components that don't match the referenced UL design
  • EQ studs submitted without limiting-height data for the specified deflection criteria
  • Missing moisture/mold-resistant or abuse-resistant board where the finish schedule requires it
  • No Level 5 finish documentation where specified for critical lighting areas
  • Shaft-wall system components mixed from different manufacturers' listed systems
  • Acoustic sealant and isolation accessories omitted from STC-rated assemblies
