Manage Part Numbers

This article shows how to add, split, and fix part numbers on a product.

How part numbers look

Each part number shows as a row of chips, one chip for each segment between hyphens. So ABC-123-WH shows as three chips. A yellow warning sign means the part has a warning. Small icons show if it has notes or tags. Hover to read them.

Add or paste part numbers (the part-number drawer)

The Part numbers drawer opens from a product card in the Submittal Builder and from the Procurement Log.

  1. Paste the whole order code in Paste an order code.
  2. To keep it as one part, click Add as 1 part. Hyphens and spaces stay.
  3. To split it, look at the chip preview. Then click Split into parts.
  4. Under Found on this cut sheet, click Add next to any code the app found.
  5. For each row, click Add note to add a note. Click Flag to mark a warning.
  6. Drag a row by its handle to change the order. Click the trash icon to remove a row.
  7. Check On the Products summary to see how it will look.
  8. Click Save part numbers, or press Ctrl+Enter (⌘+Enter on Mac). If you are using the Highlight tool, the button says Confirm for print.

Edit all part numbers on the Product Details page

  1. Hover over Part Number and click the pencil (Edit part numbers).
  2. Put each part number on its own line, or put a comma between them. Hyphens stay inside a code.
  3. Click Save, or press Ctrl+Enter (⌘+Enter on Mac).

Edit one part number

  1. Click a part number's chips on the Product Details page.
  2. The Edit Part Number drawer opens on the right.
  3. Change the Part Number Value, Tags, Warning, or Notes.
  4. Click Save Changes.

On the Products page, clicking a part number opens the same fields. If other products use the same part, you can pick Just this product or All products using this part.

Decode part numbers with AI

On the Product Details page, click AI Specs. The AI reads the cut sheet's ordering guide and turns each segment into specs. See "Product Details Page."
