Create a Purchase Order with AI

This article shows how to make a purchase order (PO) by asking the Submittal Builder.

What it does

The Builder turns your products into a PO. It uses the products in the open submittal. If no submittal is open, it uses the products in your project. By default, one PO holds all the products. Name a manufacturer to make a PO for just that supplier.

How to do it

  1. Open Submittal Builder from the sidebar.
  2. Make sure you are in the right project.
  3. Type: "Create a purchase order for this project." Or for one supplier: "Make a PO for just the Acuity items."
  4. Press Enter to send.
  5. The Builder shows a preview with the lines, quantities, and costs. Check it.
  6. Click Confirm to make the PO. Nothing is saved before you confirm.
  7. Click the Open PO link in the chat. The PO opens in Procurement in a new tab.

Costs

  • Give costs in your message, and the Builder puts them on the lines.
  • If you don't give costs, the lines start at $0. Fill them in on the PO later.
  • You can add a freight charge and notes.

Add more later

Already made a PO? Ask the Builder to add more. For example: "Add L3 to the PO." Products already on the PO are skipped.

After it is made

Open the PO in Procurement. There you can change lines and costs, check the ship-to address, make a PDF, and email the supplier.

Common questions

Can I get one PO for each manufacturer? Yes. Ask for one at a time, like "Make a PO for just the Lithonia items."

Why are my costs $0? The Builder only adds costs you give it. Tell it the costs, or type them on the PO.

Where is my PO? Click the Open PO link in the chat. Or go to Procurement and open the Purchase Orders tab.
