Create a Submittal

This article shows the ways to make a new submittal package.

Ways to make a submittal

• Submittal Builder — chat with AI to build the package. This is the main way. It is also where you upload a package you already have.
• New Submittal — a step-by-step form on the Submittals page.
• Products page — pick products, then click Create Submittal.

Every new submittal starts as Pending Review.

Use the New Submittal form

1. Go to the Submittals page.
2. Click New Submittal.
3. Submittal Details: Type a Submittal Name. This is the only field you must fill in. You can also pick a Trade and CSI Section.
4. Click Show advanced details to see more fields. These include Submittal Number, Date, Contractor, Architect, Preparing Firm, Construction Manager, Subcontractor, Supplier, and Description / Notes.
5. Click Next.
6. Select Products: Check the products to add. Click pages to add or remove them. Pick at least one product.
7. Click Next.
8. Add Documents: Add project documents if you want. This step is optional.
9. Click Next.
10. Template Pages: Pick any Saved Templates you want. Your cover, transmittal, and other standard pages come from your document template.
11. Click Next.
12. Preview & Confirm: Look over the pages.
13. Click Create Submittal.

The package builds in the background. You can leave the page. When it is done, you see "Submittal ready to review." Click View to open it.

Make one from the Products page

1. Go to the Products page.
2. Check the boxes next to the products you want.
3. In the bar at the bottom, click Create Submittal.
4. Fill in the fields marked with *.
5. Click Create. The PDF builds in the background.

Common questions

Do I have to type a submittal number?

No. Leave it blank and the app picks the next number. See "Submittal Register" to learn how numbers work.

Why are some fields already filled in?

The form copies contacts, date, trade, and templates from your last submittal in this project. Change them if you need to.

Where is Upload & Extract?

It was removed from the Submittals page. Upload your package in the Submittal Builder instead.

Why can't I click Next on Select Products?

Pick at least one product with at least one page.
