What it does
The Upload & Extract feature lets you upload an existing submittal PDF and use AI to automatically identify and extract the products it contains. This is useful when you receive a submittal package from a subcontractor or manufacturer and want to digitize it.
How to use it
- Go to the Submittals page.
- Click the Upload & Extract button.
- Step 1 — Upload:
- Drag and drop a PDF file or click to browse and select one.
- Select the trade/section from the dropdown (e.g., Electrical, Plumbing).
- Toggle auto-analysis if you want the AI to automatically extract metadata like contractor name, preparing firm, and construction manager from the document.
- Step 2 — Review:
- The AI extracts products from the PDF and presents them in an editable table.
- Review each product's name, part number, manufacturer, and description.
- Edit any fields that the AI got wrong.
- Remove products that should not be included.
- Click Save to create the submittal with the extracted products.
Things to know
- Only PDF files are supported for upload.
- The AI extraction works best with standard submittal formats that include transmittal sheets and product data pages.
- You can edit all extracted data before saving — always review AI results for accuracy.
